Voting shifted to Eccles Center

by Jay Hamburger, of The Record staff

City Hall’s election officer early in the morning put up signs on the doors at McPolin Elementary School and Treasure Mountain International School directing people to the polling location at the Eccles Center.

Balloting traditionally took place at the two schools, but those two polling places have been consolidated at the Eccles this year. People who live outside of Old Town and Deer Valley vote at the Eccles Center. People who live in Old Town and Deer Valley vote at the Marsac Building.

Cindy LoPiccolo, the election officer, said she put the signs up by 6:30 a.m., at least 30 minutes before the polls opened.

One voter, Holly Carlin, said she did not see a sign, though, when she went to cast a ballot at Treasure Mountain, where she has voted since the 1980s. She said someone at the school suggested she go to McPolin Elementary School, another traditional polling location that has been scrapped this year in favor of the Eccles Center.

The polls close at 8 p.m. A photo ID must be presented to cast a ballot.

Results will be posted on as soon as they are available.
