Workers were sent to Main Street Thursday evening to fix a broken

Park City’s waterworks system suffered a series line breaks Thursday afternoon, cutting off service to sections of Old Town and lower Deer Valley.

Crews were seen attempting to fix the breaks Thursday evening, including one on Main Street.

City Hall said a valve that releases pressure in the system became stuck, causing the breaks. The valve is located at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and 2nd Street.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., locations where water service had been cut off were:

  • Woodside Avenue between 2nd Street and 4th Street
  • Marsac Avenue from the Old Town roundabout to 402 Marsac Ave.
  • a section of Deer Valley Drive east of the Old Town roundabout
  • Sunnyside Drive
  • Deer Valley Loop
  • some addresses on the 500 block of Main Street

City Hall indicated six water lines are broken. Officials are unsure what caused the valve to malfunction.

A hotline has been set up at 615-5320. Information will also be posted on City Hall’s website, http://www.parkcity.org .
