Weilenmann students learn from the best
Weilenmann School of Discovery visiting artist and speaker series "Wish Upon a Star" strives to expose students to artists, performers, and other professionals, whose interactions and mentoring inspire students to "dream big," according to Weilenmann School Assistant Shelley Turner. Students in kindergarten through 8th-grade met Grammy nominated violinist Jenny Oaks Baker, as she spent the day teaching young musicians and performing songs from her CD "Wish Upon a Star: A Tribute to the Music of Walt Disney." Weilenmann’s music director Devon Colby organized the event, and even planned for third-grade musicians to perform on stage with Baker. "Students have been looking forward to Jenny’s visit for weeks," Weilenmann Principal Mary Kimball said in a press release. "They realize this is a rare opportunity, and they are excited!"
