Whole Foods supports the Kimball Art Center
November 13, 2009
Get your Thanksgiving shopping done early and support the Kimball Art Center. On Thursday, Nov. 19, Whole Foods Market at Redstone will donate five percent of all sales to the local nonprofit.
Once a quarter, Whole Foods designates a local charity as the beneficiary for its Community Giving Day.
In addition to donating a portion of the day’s sales to the Kimball Art Center, the Redstone store will host a reception for the Kimball Art Center’s Young Artists’ Academy from 5 until 8 p.m. in the café.
The academy has collaborated with the Park City Museum to create "Park City Then and Now," a collection of art portraying iconic buildings in Park City. The Museum lent images of several historic buildings, including the Egyptian Theatre, Park City Library and Miners Hospital, to artists ranging from 13 to 18 years old. The artists each chose a building to interpret in a modern photo collage. The historically-inspired photo projects will remain on display for the public’s enjoyment in the Whole Foods café through January 2010.
The Young Artist Academy is a year-long program dedicated to the study and practice of the visual arts. Kimball Young Artists develop their art portfolio and resume, discuss art history, meet local artists, explore possible visual art careers, learn proper artist practices and participate in outreach programs throughout the community.
Proceeds from Community Giving Day at Whole Food will support the Young Artists’ Academy and other educational programs at the Kimball. For more information, visit http://www.kimballartcenter.org.
