Wing Nutz coming to Newpark
Dale Boerboom loves Wing Nutz, a restaurant specializing in baked chicken wings, beer and sports television.
He plans to open one at 1153 Center Drive, Suite G, in Newpark by the end of August. Newpark and a Sandy location also under construction would be the franchise’s sixth and seventh locations all in Utah.
What attracted Boerboom to the franchise is the healthfulness of baked not fried chicken plus the dizzying combination of flavors possible with all the sauces and methods of serving chicken, he said.
A half-serving of wings comes in under 500 calories, he added.
"All they have is ovens. The chicken comes in fresh, none frozen," he said.
There are about 20 different kinds of sauce ranging from mild to very hot. Any flavor can be made hotter as well.
Besides wings (both boneless and regular), Wing Nutz sells chicken tenders, wraps, salads and quesadillas. With five ways to serve chicken, and a couple dozen sauces, it’s near impossible to have tried everything on the menu, he said.
Wing Nutz is almost a cross between a restaurant and a sports pub; that’s why it would do well at Kimball Junction, he said. His store will have 35 different brands of beer 13 on tap. He’ll have six to eight flat-screen televisions, too.
Suite G is the first unit south of Best Buy and will have a patio with outdoor seating, he said.

The Christian Center of Park City had a makeover last year, and its boutique felt it was time for one, too.
