Winter stock on its way

In ski shops throughout Park City, space is opening up on sales floor as retailers make room for the incoming flood of new winter gear. Warehouses stocked floor to ceiling with boxes of brightly colored albeit less neon than in past seasons soft goods. Rocker skis and snowboards, also known as reverse-camber, are an up and coming trend in the industry and line walls in thick stacks.

In the coming weeks (and in some cases, days), retailers will be debuting the new winter gear that was ordered months ago following trade show scouting and the meticulous review of new lines of product on the market.

"It feels very much like winter in our warehouse," said David Hampson, the Warehouse Manager for Cole Sports. "We’ll be seeing the product set up on floor in the next little bit. Today you can come in and not see much. Four days later, you could see a whole new offering."

Even Deer Valley Resort, which opens in December, is ready to get gear ready to go. Employees were meticulously combing through new children’s products for the resort’s store, Next Gen.

"Bright colors are still in for kids," said Georgia Anderson, the Deer Valley Resort Director of Merchandising. "It’s just so fun to see how fashionable the lines are for little girls, and how technical the lines are for boys."

"As we speak, the new product is going on the floor," she added. "We’re making very regular deliveries of the incoming merchandise as we transition into fall and winter at our Main Street store."
