UPDATE: Interstate 80 reopened after snow causes westbound closure at Kimball Junction
A snowstorm hammering Summit County forced the Utah Department of Transportation to close westbound Interstate 80 between Kimball Junction and Parleys Summit for more than an hour and a half Sunday evening.
According to the UDOT Twitter account, the closure was implemented around 7:30 p.m. and lifted shortly after 9:05 p.m. During the closure, Google traffic navigation recommended drivers instead use Kilby Road to access the top of Parleys Summit, where they could reenter the interstate.
As of 9:05 p.m., chains or four-wheel drive remained required for all vehicles traveling both directions in Parleys Canyon.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Coalville native doesn’t see any major roadblocks for this year’s fair, though presenting in front of the County Council is a little nerve wracking.
