Woman kills herself

Patrick Parkinson, Of the Record staff

A woman shot and killed herself last week in Francis as a team of Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies assembled outside her home, Sheriff Dave Edmunds said.

While officers approached the trailer they heard the shot. They entered the home and found the South Summit woman on the floor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Edmunds said.

Authorities attempted to administer CPR to save the woman but she died at the scene, the sheriff said.

The woman’s 57-year husband shot himself in September as deputies mobilized outside the same home, Edmunds said. Last week, a man in Heber called a county dispatcher to report that the suicide victim was driving to Francis and she was suicidal, he said.

"He believed that she was going to commit suicide," Edmunds said. "Maybe she told him that and maybe she left a note."
