World Junior Luge Championships hit Park City

Anthony Espinoza leads notable local racers, The Park Record

The world’s top junior luge athletes will be in Park City on Tuesday and Wednesday for the World Junior Luge Championships at the Utah Olympic Park.

The event will feature athletes under the age of 20 competing for world titles.

Park City native Anthony Espinoza qualified for the doubles event along with teammate Ty Anderson, of Alpine, Utah. Anderson won a gold medal at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games.

The races are free to all spectators. Singles races begin Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. with the junior men. The junior women’s races start at 1 p.m.

The doubles races are set for Jan. 16, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the team relay at noon.
