Park City Council misfired on gun issue

Editor:

I am a retired Police Officer of 25 years, and I read with disgust the snarky remarks by Park City Council members, who were lamenting the fact that they have to comply with the Constitution of the United States.

Liza Simpson (formerly of Berkeley Calif.) was irritated. Cindy Matsumoto, (formerly of Michigan) asked if she HAD to. The other council members are formerly from New York City, San Diego, Calif, and Columbus, Ohio. Isn’t it interesting that when liberals destroy the places they live with their flawed ideals, they move somewhere nice and try to destroy that.

None of these people ran for office in the spirit of public service. They ran to gain power to impose their flawed beliefs on other people. That’s what the left does. The power they tried to exert over Park City would be equivalent to some small town in Southern Utah trying to pass a borough ordinance against the left’s political prize, abortion. Park City, I’m sorry to say, you got what you deserve by what was best described by Professor Jonathan Gruber: stupid voters.

Thanks to outgoing PCSD board members for job well done

Editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to express our immense gratitude to our two retiring school board members. For many years, Michael Boyle and Charles Cunningham have been true assets to our community and schools. Both of these gentlemen have put in countless hours working on behalf of the students and staff of the Park City School District. To say that we will miss them would be an understatement. They have shared their skills, intellect and humor with us over the years, and we will be forever grateful.

We also want to thank their families who supported them during their time on the board. Supporting someone who is a public servant poses many challenges and we thank them for sharing their husband and fathers with all of us. Park City School District is a better place because of these fine men and we wish them well in their future pursuits.
