Why are we always paying for them?

Here are some additional considerations for those yet to send in their ballots.

Our community has been having a spirited conversation between those who support the $30 million recreation facilities bond and those who don’t. There are at least three basic elements to those discussions.

First, who are the primary users of our current facilities?  How may unique users are there? In other words, is a small number of frequent users driving the usage totals?

Second, what is the proportion of people outside of 84060 to the users outside of our Zip code?

There are plenty of estimates based on anecdotal observations. We should know those exact numbers before being asked to bond for new facilities.

Third, for a dozen years I’ve asked the question: Why are residents of 84060 paying to provide for these facilities while those from outside our Zip code don’t pay much of a non-resident fee to use the them?

Let’s know the answers before we vote.
