Fans can vote for favorite cyclists
America First Credit Union has teamed with the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah to invite cycling fans to vote online for their favorite race gear and professional cyclists. Until July 13, ballots can be cast to select the America First Fan Favorite T-shirt from six design options. During race week, Aug. 1-7, fans will be invited to cast daily ballots at TourofUtah.com for top-performing athletes. For each voting period, one participating fan will be selected at random to receive a $100 Visa Gift Card, courtesy of America First Credit Union.
This year’s interactive America First Fan Favorite series launched in June with the America First Fan Favorite Jersey and the America First Fan Favorite Hat categories. The designs with the most votes will be available for purchase at the official Tour Store, both online and during race week at the Harmons Healthy Living Expo. All rules and regulations for the America First Fan Favorite series are provided online (www.tourofutah.com/experience/fan-favorite-rules).
The America First Fan Favorite series offers daily categories during race week. In the past two years, more than 130,000 votes have been cast by cycling fans to determine winners in select categories. Last years Overall America First Fan Favorite was Taylor Phinney (USA) of BMC Racing Team. Daily fan favorite categories will be similar to last year. Six athletes will be nominated for each category, with voting open on Aug. 1.
The 2015 America First Fan Favorite Jersey race week selections were:
Stage 1 — Tour of Utah Legend — Tanner Putt
Stage 2 — Most Loved Veteran — Chris Horner
Stage 3 — Most Promising Rookie — Dion Smith
Stage 4 — Best Domestique — Ted King
Stage 5 — Most Inspiring Comeback from Adversity — Taylor Phinney
Stage 6 — Best Ambassador — Robin Carpenter
Stage 7 — Overall Fan Favorite — Taylor Phinney
