Grant Pierce recently committed to Furman University in South Carolina to continue his lacrosse career in 2014.

The attacker will play for Brighton this year after suiting up for Judge Memorial last year, where he scored 32 goals in 11 games. He played for the 212 Lacrosse club team as well.

Pierce recently told Utah Lacrosse News that 212 Lacrosse founder Mike Acee was one of his biggest influences.

"The very first person, the man who changed the course of my life, is Mike Acee," he said. "Coach Acee has been my private coach for the past three years and not only did he change every part of my game, but he really believed in me and never wavered. Coach Acee has made a huge difference in my life both on the field and off and not only is he my coach, he is my friend."

Pierce said he’s excited for the next step of his career.

"I started playing lacrosse when I was in fourth grade and my dream ever since I was nine was to play Division I lacrosse," he said. "I’ve come such a long way since then and have had some amazing help along the way. Now I’m here today and I’ve committed to a D-I program and it is one of the happiest days of my life. So I’d like to thank everyone out there who made me push myself and believe in myself so I never gave up."

Furman will begin playing in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2014.
