Nothing Free About Freestyle event
September 11, 2015
Bobby Carroll is gearing up for the second-annual Nothing Free About Freestyle Ski Fundraiser and is looking for support from local businesses and individuals. The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wasatch Brew Pub. It will be an evening of mingling, appetizers and live music with a silent auction, door prizes and opportunity drawings, all to benefit Bobby’s quest to achieve the goal of 2015 U.S. Ski Team World Cup starts. He is currently seeking silent-auction and raffle items, sponsors and the Park City community to participate in this annual event.
Bobby is a competitive freestyle mogul skier from Park City. Last season he finished as Intermountain Division Champion, fourth at Nor-Am finals and eighth at U.S. Nationals, all less than one year after ACL surgery. With the injury behind him, Bobby has high expectations for the coming season. He has been spending long hours training for this season by water ramping at the newly updated Utah Olympic Park, training in Steamboat Springs, Colo., and on snow at the ID One Pro Mogul Camp in Whistler, Canada. When not training, Bobby works three jobs: at the Wasatch Brew Pub, Colonial Construction and Asling Art.
Bobby has significant costs throughout the ski season, including travel, lodging, lift tickets and event fees, and is hoping for local support. Silent-auction and raffle items, as well as sponsorships are needed to make the annual fundraising event successful. "Items such as sports or music memorabilia, original artwork, airline miles and vacation home stays are very popular," said Carroll. "Nothing is too big or too small. Any item or sponsorship would be greatly appreciated."
Last year’s event was a major success. "I was blessed and surprised by all of the local support for the event last year and hope to make it even bigger and better this year," said Carroll. This year, he is trying to raise $15,000 for the upcoming ski season and the opportunity to represent his community and country as a member of the U.S. Ski Team.
The second-annual Nothing Free About Freestyle Ski Fundraiser promises to be fun for everyone who participates and will give businesses and individuals the opportunity to support a great cause.
