Oakley Rodeo returns for its 79th year
If you’re planning to take a ride over to this year’s Oakley Rodeo, don’t hold your horses too long.
Tickets to the Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, events are selling quickly, according to Andy Woolstenhulme, who handles public relations for the Rodeo Committee.
"It’s common that we’ll sell out three of the four nights," Woolstenhulme said. However, as of Thursday afternoon, there were still lots of great seats for Wednesday, July 2, and Thursday, July 3, he added.
The 79th annual Oakley Independence Day Rodeo is scheduled to be
held at 8 p.m. on July 2, 3, 4 and 5, with each performance to be followed by a fireworks show, weather permitting. All tickets are $15 and all seats are assigned.
Festivities in Oakley on the Fourth of July will also include a 5K run, a parade and a patriotic program. Woolstenhulme said visitors will also have the chance to inspect the brand-new reception center at the Oakley Rodeo Complex.
July 5 is "Tough Enough To Wear Pink Night," at which spectators and contestants are encouraged to wear their favorite color, as long as it’s pink. Tough Enough to Wear Pink, sponsored by Wrangler is a nationally recognized campaign for breast cancer awareness and fundraising. All proceeds will be used locally, Woolstenhulme said.
This year the Justin Sportsmedicine Team will be on hand to provide medical care to rodeo contestants, he said.
Tickets to the PRCA Oakley Independence Day Rodeo are available by calling the Oakley City Offices at (435) 783-5753 or visiting oakleycity.com
The Park City High School softball team is winning, and that’s news. It’s been close to a decade since they recorded a winning season.
