Outdoor fitness training at Quinn’s

A new fitness offering from PC Recreation draws inspiration from "mud runs" like Spartan and Tough Mudder to provide progressive training in two summer sessions. Led by local personal trainer Miranda Lyle, the adventure-style group training utilizes Park City’s outdoor amenities, including trails, the Quinn’s Junction Fitpark and the fields. Focusing on building endurance and strength, the program welcomes participants of all fitness levels. Space is limited to eight people, allowing for more individualized training.

"The training group is great for anyone who is planning on participating in a mud run or anyone who simply desires to increase their fitness level in a fun, inventive way that replaces the traditional gym workout with the outdoors," explains Miranda Lyle, who has been a group fitness instructor and personal trainer for six years and holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

Varied exercises that combine cardio and strength will include trail running, the TRX system, agility drills on the soccer field and stadium stairs.

Participants have the option of choosing one session for $125 or both sessions for $200. The first session began on June 2 and runs until July 9 and the second session runs July 14 to Aug. 20. Training is twice a week, meeting at the Quinn’s Junction Fitpark on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A prorated fee is offered for the first session for anyone who would like to still join.

Having completed two Tough Mudder races, Lyle looks forward to sharing her passion for fitness and outdoor recreation with participants who will experience personal training in a group setting.
