Park City Karate to host championships

Park City Karate will be hosting the sixth-annual USA Karate-Utah State Championships and National Qualifier, on Saturday, June 14, at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse.
The competition will include kata (traditional karate forms) and kumite (sparring) and all ages and karate styles are invited to compete.
The tournament will bring some of the top karate competitors from around the country including Tom Scott, current American and Pan-American champion, along with USA Karate National Team members from Colorado and Texas.
Scott, a national and world champion, will also be teaching a special seminar on Friday, June 13, at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse, beginning at 7 p.m. All ages and skill levels are invited to attend this exciting seminar that will provide attendees with specialized training.
Additionally, a USA Karate Referee Training and Certification course will be held on Friday, June 13, at 5 p.m. Sensei Fariba Madani, a member of the USA-NKF Referee Committee, will be conducting this course. This is an excellent opportunity for athletes or anyone interested in the rules of karate to gain a better understanding of the competition rules.
