Pickard sets USATF shot put record

The Park City Track Club hosted the opening meet of the Utah USA Track and Field season at Dozier Field on Saturday, May 11. A total of 191 athletes participated in the event with three long-standing USATF records falling.

Justin Pickard of the Park City Track Club broke the record for 18 year olds in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet 10 inches, besting the old mark by 10 inches. New records were also set in both the youth girls’ 400-meter dash and the youth boys’ javelin.

The next USATF meet will be held at Utah Valley University on May 25 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Contact Tony Glover for additional information at 801-641-9567.
