Utah ski resorts
As of Tuesday, Dec. 19, the following Utah ski resorts are open and scheduled to open weather permitting: Alta is reporting a 57-inch snow base with 108 runs and 7 lifts open; Beaver Mountain, TBD; Brian Head is reporting 30 inches of snow with 8 runs and 3 lifts open; Brighton is reporting a 57-inch snow base with 58 runs and 6 lifts open; Powder Mountain is reporting 36 inches of snow with 20 runs and 3 lifts open.; Snowbasin is reporting a 46-inch snow base with 48 runs and 6 lifts open; Snowbird is reporting 54 inches of snow with 83 runs and 11 lifts open; Solitude is reporting a 43-inch snow base with 23 runs and 8 lifts open; Sundance is reporting 43 inches of snow with 10 runs and 4 lifts open; and Wolf Mountain is reporting a 20-inch snow base with 7 runs and 3 lifts open.
The White Pine Touring cross-country track is now open with 5k of groomed trail. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. For more information on rental prices or lessons, call 649-6249.

Wasatch-Cache National Forest
Mirror Lake Highway, S.R. 150, is now closed at mile marker 14 at Soapstone Basin. All campgrounds are currently closed and the ranger district is waiting for enough snowfall to start grooming cross-country trails. For more information, contact the Kamas Ranger District at (435) 783-4338.
Utah Avalanche Center
The Utah Avalanche Center, as of Tuesday, Dec. 19, is reporting mostly moderate avalanche danger on shady northwest through easterly facing slopes steeper than 35 degrees above 9,000 feet and on any steep slope with recent drifts of wind-blown snow.
