PCHS Miners in Playoffs
The PCHS Miners hockey team will begin playoff action tonight at 7 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena. Park City will face the Davis Darts in the first round of the state playoffs after finishing the regular season with a record of 12-1-1. Admission is $2.
High Country Fly Fishing
On Wednesday, Feb. 6, High Country Fly Fishers will hold its monthly meeting. The meeting will be at St Mary’s Church on Highway 224 at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Mike Kaul. Mike is the managing partner of Two Rivers Emporium, a fly fishing outfitter in Pinedale, Wyo., and will speak about fishing in the Pinedale area.
First Aid/CPR/AED Class
When an emergency happens, make sure you know what to do. Come to the PC MARC and learn First Aid, CPR and AED skills from certified National Safety Council Instructors Friday, Feb. 8, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fee is $50. Join Basin Recreation for a Group Cycle Master Class on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fieldhouse (1388 Center Drive). Class will be held in the southeast corner of the track with a beautiful Park City view. Bring lots of water, a towel, and a set of strong legs. Cost is $8, drop-in only. The Park City Soccer Club’s Spring Youth Academy is open for registration for youngsters ages 6-10. The goal of PCSC Youth Academy is to teach the game of soccer in a fun and challenging environment. Players will be taught individual ball skills and creativity through developmentally-appropriate training sessions. Fencing at PC MARC
Park City Fencing Academy is moving to the MARC in February and offering a free adult class. The academy is offering free fencing on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the MARC. Winter Break Kids Camp
Don’t let your kids spend a week home and bored during the school’s winter break. Register for Park City Recreation’s Winter Break Kids Camp. The program is open to kids ages 6-12 from Feb. 18 to Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Activities will include fun in the snow, ice and mountains with arts & crafts, games, bouldering and much more. Playin’ the Basin Way
Basin Recreation is holding open field time for those in the adaptive (physical, mental or other limitation) populations and their siblings on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fieldhouse. Basin Rec Break Camp
It’s almost time for another school break, so sign up for Basin Recreation’s February Break Camp Feb. 19-22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ecker Hill Middle School gym. Early drop-off at 8 a.m. and late pickup at 5 p.m. are available. Campers will enjoy sledding, swimming, games, and arts and crafts. Be sure to pack lunch, sledding gear, a swimsuit and a towel. Full Moon Snowshoe At The Farm
This event, on Feb. 23, from 5:30 p.m. until the cow flies over the moon (9 p.m.), includes a delicious chili dinner catered by Kumbayah Kitchens and music by the Motherlode band. The evening ends with a full-moon snowshoe tour for beginners and advanced, all for $25 per person. Snowshoes provided as needed. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., music until 7:30, then it’s out the door to snowshoe. Tickets are available at the Park City Library, (check or cash only), and must be purchased in advance.
Children ages 4-6 can learn life lessons through Park City Recreation karate classes. This program builds self-esteem, self-discipline, confidence, respect and fitness. Youth Spring Soccer
Calling all youth soccer players! Park City Recreation is offering its spring youth soccer program April 13 through June 12. Players must be four years old through fourth grade. 3-on-3 basketball tourney
Join Basin Recreation for the 3-on-3 Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament on March 14-15 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ecker Hill Middle School gym. Times vary depending on division: 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, and 7th-8th. Four games are guaranteed with a double-elimination bracket and prizes for tournament champions. FREE PC MARC Lunch and Learns
Free wellness educational lunch and learns are offered the second Wednesday of every month at the PC MARC for the entire community. On Feb. 13 at noon, certified personal trainer Jason Black will discuss the importance of systematically progressing through your training to receive optimal benefits while preventing injuries. Kickboxing at Silver Mountain
Kickboxing is a fun way to burn calories, strengthen your body and relieve stress. Silver Mountain Sports Club is now offering kickboxing classes on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Prospector Square location, 2080 Gold Dust Lane. Taught by world-champion kickboxer Travis Mason, this new class is open to men and women of all ages. Kickboxing is free for Silver Mountain Sports Club members and punch-pass holders. UOP Explorers is geared toward skiers with intermediate skiing ability who want to enhance skills and try a variety of ski disciplines like ski jumping, freeride skiing (terrain park and jumps), freestyle mogul skiing and alpine skiing. U.S. Masters ski season schedule
The 2013 U.S. Masters ski season schedule has been released. If you are 18 or older and want to race the same caliber venues as Olympic skiers, attend JANS Cup races this year. The remaining 2013 JANS Cup schedule is: Feb. 9-10 – Snowbasin Resort; Feb. 22-24 – Wolf Mountain; March 8-10 – Snowbasin Resort. Adult race training and advance skiing are available at Park City Mountain Resort. The Masters program features 90-plus all day and night sessions featuring gates and the latest free ski skills.
