Basin Rec Guided Hike

Explore Basin Recreation’s vast trail system with a free guided hike on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. on Rob’s Trail. Meet at Rob’s Trailhead in Sun Peak. Hikes last an hour and a half to two hours. The trails staff picks a different trail every few weeks for the rest of the summer. See the website for a full list of dates and locations. Primal Move at Silver Mountain

Primal Move is a hot new fitness trend that brings back the playful side of exercise, and it is not your typical gym workout. There is purpose, direction, and a primary goal to move and feel better when you leave then when you arrived. It’s perfect for athletes who want to prevent injuries or anyone wanting to improve balance and flexibility. Silver Mountain Sports Club offers Primal Move classes through certified personal trainer Kevin Rail. Primal Move classes are at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings in Prospector Park. All-Girls Skate Session

Girls ages five and older are invited to learn to skate in this fun clinic that offers instruction for all levels. The clinic runs Sept. 8-29 on Sundays, 10-11:30 a.m., at the Park City Skate Park. Helmets and pads are required, and equipment is available upon request. Register by Sept. 6 online at or call 615-5400.

Parent/Kid Skateboard Clinic

Parents and kids are welcome to learn to skateboard and enjoy the Park City Skate Park together. The next session is Sept. 8-29 on Sundays, 8:30 to 10 a.m., for adults and children six years and older. Helmets and pads are required, and equipment is available upon request. Miners Day Bowl Jam

Park City Recreation presents the Park City Miners Day Bowl Jam at the Park City Skate Park on Monday, Sept. 2, 3-6 p.m. Participants in the Open Amateur division will compete for great prize packages. Mountain Trails Foundation Needs Volunteers

The Mountain Trails Foundation needs volunteers for several upcoming events, including the Park City Marathon on Aug. 17, the Mid Mountain Marathon on Sept. 7 and the Tour des Suds on Sept. 15. The most pressing need is for aid stations and course marshals at the Park City Marathon. This event is a huge fundraiser for the trail system and will have about 2,000 athlete-participants. Youth Lacrosse Registration

Summer Skate Series

Park City Recreation presents Utah’s premier skate competition series at the Park City Skate Park. The last event of the series will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. Six divisions cater to all levels of skaters, and there are great prizes. Basin Rec Flag Football

It’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation’s NFL Flag Football. Games and practices will be held at the Fieldhouse from Aug. 26 through Oct. 18 starting with player evaluations. Fall Soccer

Fall is fast approaching, so it’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation Fall Soccer. Boys’ and girls’ teams, grades kindergarten through 9, will practice and play games twice a week from Aug. 19 to Oct. 12. Preschoolers will practice and play games once a week. Swing for Sports

Join Basin Recreation for the first Swing for Sports golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Park City Golf Course. Four-person teams will play in a scramble format with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Enjoy sports-themed hole challenges with prizes along the course. All proceeds will help underprivileged youth in our community stay active in sports programs at an affordable cost through our scholarship program. Adult Learn to Play

Want to improve your hockey game? Need some extra ice time? Park City Ice Arena is offering another Adult Learn to Play session. Classes are on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. The cost is $70. Sign up online at or call the front desk at (435) 615-5707.

Paddleboard Fitness and Yoga Classes

Park City Standup Paddleboarding offers on-the-water yoga classes every Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. PC SUP also offers paddleboard fitness classes on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. The classes cost $20 each and include a board rental. Summer Swim Lessons

Park City Recreation offers summer swim lessons for all age groups and ability levels, six months to 13 years. There are various session lengths and day options on weekdays, evenings and Saturdays. Register now as class sizes are limited. Visit or call 615-5400.

Pickleball at the PC MARC

One of the fastest-growing sports in America, Pickleball is now offered at the PC MARC. This fun sport has simple rules and lots of action. Racquet-sport enthusiasts and newcomers are welcome to play on the MARC’s three indoor Pickleball courts Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $3 per player. Learn to Swim at Silver Mountain

Youth swim lessons at Silver Mountain Sports Club are offered throughout the summer. There are eight half-hour lessons in each session, with one instructor for every four children. Couples League at PC Golf Club

The Couples League, for beginning to advanced golfers, is new for 2013 at the Park City Golf Club. Handicaps are not used and you do not have to be a member of the USGA. It’s a great time, so come out and meet other golfers and enjoy the game. Please go to for more information.

Summer Junior Tennis Camp

The PC MARC offers summer camps for beginner and intermediate tennis players ages 7 to 14. Two-day, three-day and five-day camps are offered from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The $45 daily fee includes a T-shirt and prizes on "Game Day." For registration, visit or call (435) 615-5400.

Aquafit at the PC MARC

Instructors at the PC MARC will offer a great cardio and water resistance-based workout at the PC MARC leisure pool. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 8 to 9 a.m. All levels and ages 16 and over are welcome. Fees are $9 for residents, $12 for visitors. For info, visit or call 615-5400.

Summer Day Camp

Park City Recreation’s professional staff will guide your child age six to 12 through exciting summer days filled with sports, games, arts and crafts and field trips. Full-summer, weekly and daily drop-in campers are welcome. Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Aug. 20, at the City Park Recreation Building. Come for a day, a week, or the whole summer for new and classic Basin Recreation adventures. Park City Recreation will hold youth and adult dirt-jump camps and clinics throughout the summer at the Park City Dirt-Jump Park. Dirt-jump instructors will help riders advance in the sport of progressive mountain biking. Sessions are an hour per day for three days, Mondays through Wednesdays.
