Park City XC Half Marathon

Come out and enjoy the fabulous fall colors of Park City. Park City XC and Track Club is hosting the second-annual PCXC Trail Half Marathon. The course runs the Mid Mountain Trail through Deer Valley and PCMR, down to the finish at the base of PCMR. Proceeds will benefit the Park City High School Cross Country team. Big Foot Soccer

Winter is quickly approaching, so let’s take soccer indoors! Basin Recreation’s Big Foot Soccer will run from Oct. 28 through Dec. 14 at The Fieldhouse. Third and fourth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays, fifth and sixth graders will practice on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and seventh and eighth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays. All divisions are coed and league games are 5v5. Cost is $65 per player. Be sure to sign up before Oct. 15 to avoid a $10 late fee. To register, visit or call (435) 655-0999.

Fast and Female

Calling all girls ages 9 to 19, as well as parents and coaches join female Olympians for an afternoon of dry-land training and inspiration. The Fast and Female event will be held on Oct. 6 at the Center of Excellence from 1 to 5 p.m. The event costs $25 and includes a T-shirt, magazine subscription and snack. Park City Miners Competitive Basketball Tryouts

Does your son love to play basketball? Is he ready to take his game to the next level and dedicate himself to a competitive team? If so, he should consider playing for the Miners. First Aid, CPR Class at the PC MARC

When an emergency happens, make sure you know what to do. Come to the PC MARC and learn First Aid, CPR and AED skills from our certified National Safety Council Instructors Monday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Register online at or call our front desk at 615-5400. Adult Flag Football at Basin Rec

Ready, set, hike! It’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation Adult Flag Football. Games and practices will be held at The Fieldhouse on Sundays from Sept. 29 through Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $450 per team and must be paid in full prior to being scheduled. Basin Rec Fall Volleyball

Basin Recreation is offering a fall volleyball program from Oct. 15 through Nov. 19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Ecker Hill Middle School gymnasium. Third through fifth graders will play from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and cost is $60 per participant. Sixth through eighth graders will play from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and cost is $110 per participant. Basin Rec Guided Hike

Change of plans! Basin Recreation’s free guided hike on Saturday, Sept. 28 will be joining the Hi Ute Celebration with an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanks to our community, over 3,000 acres of contiguous open space, stretching from Hwy 224 to Parley’s Summit, has been protected. For a unique look at this iconic ranch and the chance to celebrate the amazing preservation we have created together with Utah Open Lands, take a guided nature hike through the property. High Country Fly Fishing Meeting

On Oct. 2, High Country Fly Fishers will hold its monthly meeting. The meeting will be at St Marys Church on Rt 224 at 7 p.m. The general public is welcome to attend. Park City Ute Tailgate Party

The Tailgate party and fundraiser is an event designed to support the Park City Ute Conference Football Program. It will be held on Sept. 28 at The Tavern at Sky Lodge, from 8-11p.m, with a Park City-casual dress code. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Please join the community for a fun evening of food and drink. The proceeds will go towards scholarships and new equipment. Fifteen percent of the proceeds will benefit the Aaron Alford Memorial Fund. Invite your friends.

Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Certified local dog trainer Heather Hampsten will teach Puppy, Basic and Intermediate classes on Tuesdays, Oct. 1 to Nov. 5. Classes are for adults over 16 and their dogs. H.I.T. with WHIT

The holidays are right around the corner! So let Basin Recreation’s H.I.T. with WHIT at The Fieldhouse start the season on a healthy foot every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. Youth Karate Shotokan

Children build self-esteem, self-discipline, confidence, respect and fitness by participating in the Youth Karate program at the PC MARC. The session began Sept. 16 and runs until Oct. 23 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. for Tiny Tigers (ages 4-6) and 4:30-5:30 p.m. for Ninjas (beginners). Curling Take Your Shot

Curling is a social sport on and off the ice. It is a great chance to get together with friends and make new ones. Come down to the Park City Ice Arena and give it a try. Little Dribblers at Basin Rec

Get ready to shoot some hoops! Basin Recreation’s Little Dribblers will run from Oct. 14 through Dec. 7. Preschool and kindergarteners will play on either Tuesday or Thursday in addition to Saturday at Trailside Elementary. First- and second-graders will play on Mondays and Wednesdays at Ecker Hill Middle School. Park City Soccer Club Fall Youth Academy

Is your son or daughter new to soccer or a player with a few years under his or her belt? No matter what their experience, the Park City Soccer Club Youth Academy is an ideal environment for them to be introduced to new skills or get a lot of touches on the ball. PC MARC Fall Fitness Schedule

Tae Kwon Do at Basin Rec

Learn the fundamentals of self defense in the traditional Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do with Basin Recreation! Youths (ages 8 and above) and adults are invited to take part in the fall session from Sept. 10 through Nov. 26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Trailside Park Fitness Room. Fall Junior Tennis

Park City Recreation offers Session 1 of Fall Junior Tennis Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 3 to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 26 to Oct. 19. All levels of high school, grades 8-12, are welcome. Team A, for intermediate and advanced tournament players, meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 to 6 p.m., at City Park. Team B, for beginner and intermediate non-tournament players ages 10-13, plays Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Players ages 3-10 meet Monday to Thursday, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For info and registration, visit or call 615-5400.

Skating and Hockey Academy

Primal Move at Silver Mountain

Primal Move is not your typical gym workout. It is a hot new fitness trend that brings back the playful side of exercise. There is purpose, direction, and a primary goal to move and feel better when you leave than when you arrived. It’s perfect for athletes who want to prevent injuries or anyone wanting to improve balance and flexibility. Pickleball at the PC MARC

One of the fastest-growing sports in America, Pickleball is now offered at the PC MARC. This fun sport has simple rules and lots of action. Racquet-sport enthusiasts and newcomers are welcome to play on the MARC’s three indoor Pickleball courts Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $3 per player. Couples League at PC Golf Club

The Couples League, for beginning to advanced golfers, is new for 2013 at the Park City Golf Club. Handicaps are not used and you do not have to be a member of the USGA. It’s a great time, so come out and meet other golfers and enjoy the game. Please go to for more information.

Aquafit at the PC MARC

Instructors at the PC MARC will offer a great cardio and water resistance-based workout at the PC MARC leisure pool. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 8 to 9 a.m. All levels and ages 16 and over are welcome. Fees are $9 for residents, $12 for visitors. For info, visit or call 615-5400.
