Youth Crew October Scare

Join Basin Recreation’s Youth Crew for the October Scare! Kids ages 10 to 13 will head down to Lagoon’s Frightmares on Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Drop off and pickup are at the Trailside Park Room. Cost is $55 and includes dinner at the park. Pickleball at the PC MARC

One of the fastest growing sports in America, pickleball is now offered at the PC MARC. This popular, fun sport has simple rules and lots of action. Racquet sport enthusiasts and newcomers are welcome to play on the MARC’s three indoor pickleball courts Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $3 per player. Basin Rec Halloween Run

Celebrate the Spirits with Basin Recreation on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 12 p.m. at Newpark Plaza. Join us in costume for a 10K, 5K, and 1-mile trick-or-treat run with candy stations sponsored by local businesses along the way. Cost is $20 per person or $50 per family. Halloween Zumba at Basin Rec

Fencing Classes

First Aid/CPR Course

Certified National Safety Council Instructors will teach First Aid, CPR and AED skills in a course that meets national safety standards. Park City Miners Competitive Basketball Tryouts

Does your son love to play basketball? Is he ready to take his game to the next level and dedicate himself to a competitive team? If so, he should consider playing for the Miners. Playin’ the Basin Way

Guided Hike

Join Basin Recreation for the last free guided hike of the season on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 10:30 a.m. on Colin’s Trail. Meet in the Park City Community Church parking lot. Hikes last an hour and a half to two hours. Be sure to pack plenty of water and sunscreen and dress for cold weather if need be. Basin Rec Break Camp

The kids are ready for fall break and so is Basin Recreation. Join us for UEA Break Camp on Oct. 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Fieldhouse. Early drop-off is at 8 a.m. and late pickup is at 5 p.m. Campers will enjoy sports, games, and arts and crafts. Be sure to pack lunch, snacks, a swimsuit and a towel. Basin Rec Sports Clinics

Looking for your kids to play some sports over fall break? Basin Recreation is hosting a series of UEA Break Sports Clinics on Oct. 17 and 18 at The Fieldhouse. Try out lacrosse from 1 to 3 p.m., soccer from 3 to 5 p.m., baseball and softball from 5 to 7 p.m. or try all three! Cost is $30 per day or $50 for both days. Barre Classes at the PC MARC

New to the MARC: Strengthen your core and increase flexibility with a unique workout using the ballet barre along with other fitness equipment. Free Figure Skating Exhibitions at Park City Ice Arena

Fall Break Basic Skating Camp at Park City Ice Arena

No school? That’s cool, hit the ice at Park City Ice Arena’s Basic Skating Camp on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will enjoy two on-ice group classes and practice sessions as well as a fun off-ice activity. Big Foot Soccer

Winter is quickly approaching, so let’s take soccer indoors! Basin Recreation’s Big Foot Soccer will run from Oct. 28 through Dec. 14 at The Fieldhouse. Third and fourth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays, fifth and sixth graders will practice on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and seventh and eighth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays. Adult Flag Football at Basin Rec

Ready, set, hike! It’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation Adult Flag Football. Games and practices will be held at The Fieldhouse on Sundays from Sept. 29 through Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $450 per team and must be paid in full prior to being scheduled. Basin Rec Fall Volleyball

Basin Recreation is offering a fall volleyball program from Oct. 15 through Nov. 19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Ecker Hill Middle School gymnasium. Third through fifth graders will play from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and cost is $60 per participant. Sixth through eighth graders will play from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and cost is $110 per participant. Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Certified local dog trainer Heather Hampsten will teach Puppy, Basic and Intermediate classes on Tuesdays, Oct. 1 to Nov. 5. Classes are for adults over 16 and their dogs. H.I.T. with WHIT

The holidays are right around the corner! So let Basin Recreation’s H.I.T. with WHIT at The Fieldhouse start the season on a healthy foot every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. Youth Karate Shotokan

Children build self-esteem, self-discipline, confidence, respect and fitness by participating in the Youth Karate program at the PC MARC. The session began Sept. 16 and runs until Oct. 23 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. for Tiny Tigers (ages 4-6) and 4:30-5:30 p.m. for Ninjas (beginners). Little Dribblers at Basin Rec

Get ready to shoot some hoops! Basin Recreation’s Little Dribblers will run from Oct. 14 through Dec. 7. Preschool and kindergarteners will play on either Tuesday or Thursday in addition to Saturday at Trailside Elementary. First- and second-graders will play on Mondays and Wednesdays at Ecker Hill Middle School. Park City Soccer Club Fall Youth Academy

Is your son or daughter new to soccer or a player with a few years under his or her belt? No matter what their experience, the Park City Soccer Club Youth Academy is an ideal environment for them to be introduced to new skills or get a lot of touches on the ball. PC MARC Fall Fitness Schedule

Tae Kwon Do at Basin Rec

Learn the fundamentals of self defense in the traditional Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do with Basin Recreation! Youths (ages 8 and above) and adults are invited to take part in the fall session from Sept. 10 through Nov. 26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Trailside Park Fitness Room. Fall Junior Tennis

Park City Recreation offers Session 1 of Fall Junior Tennis Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 3 to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 26 to Oct. 19. All levels of high school, grades 8-12, are welcome. Team A, for intermediate and advanced tournament players, meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 to 6 p.m., at City Park. Primal Move at Silver Mountain

Primal Move is not your typical gym workout. It is a hot new fitness trend that brings back the playful side of exercise. There is purpose, direction, and a primary goal to move and feel better when you leave than when you arrived. It’s perfect for athletes who want to prevent injuries or anyone wanting to improve balance and flexibility. Couples League at PC Golf Club

The Couples League, for beginning to advanced golfers, is new for 2013 at the Park City Golf Club. Handicaps are not used and you do not have to be a member of the USGA. It’s a great time, so come out and meet other golfers and enjoy the game. Please go to for more information.
