Winter Trails Day at Soldier Hollow

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to cross country ski, now’s your chance. Soldier Hollow Resort hosts the annual Winter Trails Day Saturday, Jan. 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This program is completely free for first time skiers. Trail passes and equipment will be issued free of charge along with free mini lessons. All ages are invited. Pre-registration is not necessary, but you will need to sign a waiver and get a ski ticket when you arrive. Christmas Tree Pickup

On Jan. 4, 5, 11 and 12, the Park City High School lacrosse teams will be performing their annual Christmas tree pickups across Park City. For a tax-deductible donation of $25, members of the team will stop by to pick up discarded Christmas trees and take them to be mulched or otherwise recycled. New Year’s Day Master Class

Start your New Year’s resolution to stay fit with Basin Recreation’s New Year’s Day H.I.T. Master Class on Wednesday, Jan. 1, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at The Fieldhouse. This master class combines strength exercise with cardio intervals, bands, balls, sprints, circuits, and plyometric training. $10 drop-in fee only. No monthly or fitness punch passes. H.I.T with WHIT

Step into the new year on a healthy foot with Basin Recreation’s H.I.T. with WHIT at The Fieldhouse every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. from Jan. 7 through Feb. 6. Avalanche Baseball Tryouts

Tryouts for the Spring 2014 season for the Park City Avalanche youth baseball squads will continue on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Basin Recreation Field House. Grades 2-4 will try out from 4-5 p.m., grades 5-6 from 5-6 p.m. and grades 7-8 from 6-7 p.m. on both days. Bring a glove and a bat. Tryouts cost $25. Speed Bag Training at PC MARC

The PC MARC is now offering speed bag training with private instruction. Speed bag training is fun and offers a phenomenal cardio workout while improving strength, hand-eye coordination, self esteem and confidence. Youth Tennis Clinics at the PC MARC

This class is a great opportunity for you to get your little ones on the ice. This class is designed for pre-school and kindergarten age children accompanied by a parent or guardian. Park City Skating and Hockey Academy Open House

Learn to Play Hockey

Learn to Play Hockey’s next session starts Thursday, Jan. 9, or Monday, Jan. 6. Classes are either Mondays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. or Thursdays 4:30-5:15 p.m. Learn to Play Hockey is for youth ages 5-12. Registration for Learn to Play is $85 before Dec. 30 and $93 on or after Dec. 30. Equipment may be rented, if available, for $15. Little Foot Indoor Soccer

Snow is starting to fall, so let’s take the games inside! Basin Recreation’s Little Foot Indoor Soccer will run from Jan. 6 through Feb. 12. Preschoolers through 2nd graders will play on either Monday or Wednesday at The Fieldhouse. All divisions are coed and league games will be 4v4. Cost is $50 per player. Basin Rec Holiday Break Camp

The holiday season is here and the kids are ready for a break! Join Basin Recreation’s Holiday Break Camp Jan. 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ecker Hill Middle School gym. Early drop-off will be at 8 a.m. and late pickup will be at 5 p.m. Campers must bring lunches, water bottles, swimsuits, and towels. Winter clothes are optional for sledding. Basin Rec Golf Simulator

Don’t lose your golf swing over the long winter months! Take advantage of the golf simulator at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse and schedule your one-hour tee time on Tuesday or Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play a variety of courses throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia and improve your golf game. Snowmobile Education Courses

With snowmobile season just around the corner, Utah State Parks and Recreation reminds young riders and their parents that state-required youth snowmobile education courses are available online at ohv.utah.gov. Utah law requires youths ages 8 to 16 to complete a Utah State Parks Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Education Course before operating a machine on public lands or trails. Anyone over age 16 without a valid driver’s license must also complete the course to legally operate an OHV on public land. Course fees are $30 and upon successful completion of coursework, students can print temporary certificates and later receive permanent certificates by mail. Basin Rec Jr. Jazz Basketball

Get ready to shoot some hoops! Basin Recreation’s Jr. Jazz basketball will run from Jan. 6 through March 7. Third through eighth graders will play twice a week at Ecker Hill, Treasure Mountain, or Trailside Elementary. Player evaluations will be held in early December. Cost is $70. Holiday Spin 350 Challenge

The PC MARC will keep you riding this winter season while Park City’s 350 miles of trails are snow packed. Join the awesome spin instructors in covering 350 miles in the comfort of a spin studio with a view. Earn 15 miles per one-hour spin class you attend. Log your total miles to date on the Park City Recreation Facebook page at the end of each week, Nov. 1 to Jan. 31, as you race to complete a total of 350. Finisher prizes will be awarded! Noon Drop-In Basketball at the PC MARC

Pickleball at the PC MARC

One of the fastest-growing sports in America, pickleball is now offered at the PC MARC. This popular, fun sport has simple rules and lots of action. Racquet sport enthusiasts and newcomers are welcome to play on the MARC’s three indoor pickleball courts Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $3 per player. Barre Classes at the PC MARC

New to the MARC: Strengthen your core and increase flexibility with a unique workout using the ballet barre along with other fitness equipment. Primal Move at Silver Mountain
