World Cup at the Fieldhouse

Come help the Park City Soccer Club cheer on Team USA as they take on Portugal in the opening round of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The game will be broadcast live on the giant screen at the Basin Rec Fieldhouse on Sunday, June 22, at 4 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair and blanket.

Fourth of July Fun Run

Kick off the Fourth of July with the 32nd annual 5K Fun Run and help support the kids of the Park City Ski Team along with Cole Sport, Industrial Supply, Chase Bank, and Jim Clifford Builders. Adults can pre-register for $30 and kids under 12 for $20 at Cole Sport until 5 p.m. July 3 or online at runnercard.com. Race-day registration is $35 or $25 for kids under 12 at Cole Sport’s Park Avenue store from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. T-shirts, age-group and overall awards and prizes included. Annual Fourth of July Doubles Volleyball Tournament

The Fourth of July Doubles Volleyball Tournament will take place at Treasure Mountain Middle School and City Park. Player check-in is from 8-8:30 a.m. and play will begin at 9 a.m. The tournament is available to all levels, juniors to open. The fee is $15 for UOVA members and $25 for non-members. Registration is open through noon on July 3 at active.com.

Playin’ the Basin Way

Basin Recreation is holding open field time for those in the adaptive (physical, mental or other limitation) populations and their siblings on Saturday, June 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Fieldhouse. Park City M.O.B. (Moms on Bikes)

PC Recreation offers free weekly, drop-in mountain bike rides led by moms for moms. These rides improve ability and confidence, while making new friends. Rides are for adult women 18 and older, from June 25 to September 10 on Wednesdays 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Ride locations change weekly. Email jmoran@parkcity.org for weekly updates.

Women’s Ski Jumping Banquet

Women’s Ski Jumping USA will hold a banquet on Thursday, July 17, at Montage Deer Valley. The event, titled "Give Them Wings & Watch Them Fly," will support the U.S. team and the new Fly Girls program. A few of the team members and 2014 Olympians will be on hand for the banquet. Youth Crew’s Jammin’ in June

Celebrate the first day of summer the Basin Recreation Youth Crew’s Jammin’ in June event at Seven Peaks Waterpark on Saturday, June 21, from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Drop-off and pickup are at the Trailside Park Room, 5715 Trailside Drive. Park City SUP Kids Camp

Park City Standup Paddleboarding will host a kids’ camp from June 23 to June 27. Other sessions will be held July 14-18 and Aug. 18-22. The camp will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Park City SUP Women’s Clinic

PC Tennis Bartender’s Cup

The Bartender’s Cup offers two sessions of tennis play and socializing on June 27 and 28 with a Friday evening and all-day session on Saturday. Adults of all levels are invited to this fun competition on PC MARC’s brand-new courts and barbecue and refreshments on Saturday. The fee is $45 per person. Summer Tennis Training

Continue your hard work and progress you made during the school year with the PC Tennis new summer tennis training program. Two hours of game-based drills and match play takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 15, 4 to 6 p.m. for ages 9 to 18. Fee is $22 per day at the PC MARC tennis courts. Register for all three days of STT and join our match play on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. for free; otherwise drop-in to match play is $5.

Youth Football Registration

Are you ready for some football? Park City Miners Youth Football Registration is now open. Athletes must be 8 years old as of Sept. 1, 2014, to enroll. All players ages 8-14 years are welcome. Practices start July 28. The $275 cost includes all equipment rentals (helmet, shoulder pads, padded game pants and padded practice pants). Players will also receive a mouthpiece, socks and two game jerseys with their names on them to keep. There is also a $100 volunteer fee that is refundable at the end of the year, provided the parents volunteer the required hours. Scholarships are available. Adult Beginners Golf Clinic

Park City Golf Course had such a big response to its first adult beginners’ golf clinic that it is scheduling a second session. The clinic will be held on June 23, 26, 30 and July 3. Each lesson will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost per person is $125 and the class is limited to 12 students. It will be taught by golf professionals Ken Stenmark and Scott Meyer. Color Run with Basin Rec

Join Basin Recreation for the START of Summer Color Run on Saturday, June 21, at Trailside Park. A 5K color run, a 1-mile run, and a 100-meter dash will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost for the 5K is $25 per person or $50 per family prior to June 19. Basin Rec Summer Sports Camp

Get the kids (ages 5-9) involved with a few sports this summer during Basin Recreation’s Summer Sports Camp. The second session Aug. 11-14. The session will run from 9 a.m. to noon at The Fieldhouse. Guided Hike

Explore Basin Recreation’s vast trail system with the first free guided hike of the season on Saturday, June 28, at 9 a.m. on Road to WOS in Summit Park. Free Pickleball Clinics The PC MARC has new pickleball courts. Drop in play began on June 9 and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. Saturday mixers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Call 615-5400 to register for the Learn to Play clinics. Courts can be reserved online at tennis.parkcity.org.

Movie in the Park & Backyard Campout Night

Join Basin Recreation for the first Movie in the Park of the summer in conjunction with the first annual Backyard Campout Night on Saturday, June 28, at Trailside Park. "October Sky" will show at dusk. Then cozy up for a campout in the park. Reserve a tent site online for $10. Girls Basketball Skill Sessions

Girls in grades 6-9 interested in playing basketball at the high school in the future should have their parents contact Park City High School coach Sam White at swhite@pcschools.us . White is currently setting up group skill sessions for the summer. Sessions will be free, and the focus will be improving individual skill sets as well as building a foundation for playing together as a team.

Summer Pass Sale

Outlaw Golf Club Open

The Outlaw Golf Club in Hideout Canyon is open for the season. The scenic nine-hole course is open daily from 8 a.m. until dusk. Located off of S.R. 248, the course offers nine holes for $35 (including a cart rental). Call 435-901-4227 for more information or to book a tee time.

Summer Tennis Camps

PC Tennis offers two and a half hours of drills, games and competition for children ages 7 to 13 on Mondays through Fridays from June 9 to Aug. 15. Newpark Miles Returns

Every Monday night in June, lace up your running shoes with your family, friends, kids and colleagues and meet at Newpark Amphitheater for a one-mile-ish fun run along the path overlooking the beautiful Swaner Nature Preserve. Newpark Miles starts at 6:30 p.m., so come walk, jog, run, waddle or race your way towards 224 and then make your way back for some Park City community camaraderie. Soccer Players Wanted

Park City’s competitive women’s soccer team, the Parkbirds, is looking for players for the 2014 season. Games are held mostly on Monday evenings in Park City and Salt Lake City from May to November, with a break during July and August. Games are 11 v. 11, and players must register through Utah Soccer Association. College playing experience is preferred but not required. Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Certified local dog trainer Heather Hampsten is teaching Puppy, Basic and Intermediate classes on Tuesdays from June 10 to July 15 at the City Park Recreation Building. Classes are for adults over 16 and their dogs. Puppy class is at 6 p.m., Basic is at 7 p.m. and Intermediate is at 8 p.m. The fee is $75. Pickleball at the PC MARC

One of the fastest-growing sports in America, pickleball is now offered at the PC MARC. This popular, fun sport has simple rules and lots of action. Racquet sport enthusiasts and newcomers are welcome to play on the MARC’s three indoor pickleball courts Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon. Fee is $3 per player. Barre Classes at the PC MARC

Strengthen your core and increase flexibility with a unique workout using the ballet barre along with other fitness equipment. Primal Move at Silver Mountain

Primal Move is not your typical gym workout. It is a hot new fitness trend that brings back the playful side of exercise. It’s perfect for athletes who want to prevent injuries or anyone wanting to improve balance and flexibility.
