Ski race altered

Due to limited snow, the first Black Diamond Wasatch Citizens Series cross-country ski event has been changed to a classic sprint. The course just shorter than 1K, starting in the stadium and ending at the Soldier Hollow lodge. Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 in the lodge. Races will start at 10 a.m., beginning with a mass start for kids under 12 and followed by an interval start trial for all other groups. For more information go to

Wellness Fair and Classes

Basin Recreation is offering free fitness classes and a wellness fair on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Fieldhouse from 8 to 11:30am. Basin Recreation will also offer 20 percent off all fitness memberships and punch passes sold during the event. You must be present to receive the discount – no call-ins will be allowed. Curling lessons

On Dec. 30, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m., the Park City Curling Club is set to host a learn-to-curl session. Bring clean tennis shoes and warm clothes. Club members will be on hand to offer personalized training and provide the necessary equipment. Reservations are required and can be made online at

Tips for travel at PC MARC

This month, PC MARC features Free Lunchtime Learning, led by Tippe Morlan. Morlan will focus on the basics of finding travel deals and collecting and using points and miles to your advantage. Join her on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at noon. For info, visit or call 615-5400.

Little Foot Soccer at the Fieldhouse

In January, Basin Recreation will offer Little Foot Soccer for those in pre-school, kindergarten, and first and second grades.

Preschool and kindergarten will play four vs. four and first- and second-graders will play five vs. five. All games will be held at the Fieldhouse. Each session will consist of a 30-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game. Registration is available now. Sign up through Contact Kelly Islib at 435-655-0999 ext. 18. with any questions.

Walk with Ease

The PC MARC will offer a session of Walk with Ease, a program developed by the Arthritis Foundation designed to help participants walk safely with reduced pain and increased flexibility and strength. Certified instructors will teach on the PC MARC’s indoor track, Jan. 9 to Feb. 16, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10-11 a.m. The session fee is $30. Register at or call 615-5400.

Fieldhouse indoor pickleball league

Basin Recreation is offering pickleball league on their brand new indoor pickleball courts. So, this fall and winter the Fieldhouse will be hosting the Indoor Adult Pickleball Mixer League, where contestants play two matches a week while rotating partners throughout the season. There are two separate leagues — League 1 for leisurely recreational players and League 2 for the more advanced and competitive players. League 1 will meet up every Sunday at noon and play two 45-minute matches while League 2 will meet at 1:30 p.m. for two 45-minute matches. The programs run from Oct. 15 through Dec. 17 and will cost $40 per person.

Freeskiing with Wasatch Freestyle Foundation

The Wasatch Freestyle Foundation has spots available on its freeskiing teams. Weekend skiing programs train at Deer Valley while full-time programs take place at Deer Valley and Snowbird. Weekend programming runs from Dec. 2 to March 17, while full-time programs run from when weather permits until the first weekend in April. Programming covers big mountain and mogul skiing. PC MARC birthday party packages available

Make someone’s birthday an event to remember by having a party at the PC MARC. Two levels of packages are available. Package one includes room rental for 20 guests, and package two includes pizza, decorations and use of the PC MARC facility offerings. Gymnastics Preschool and School-age open gym

Black Diamond Gymnastics and Sports Center has opened its doors to preschool children, ages 1-5, and school-age children, ages 5-18, to participate in open gym. The program is intended to help build gross motor development while indoors. Pre-school open workouts are on Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon and Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m. parents must attend with their children for pre-school open gym. School-age open workouts are on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 1:15 p.m. Parents are invited to watch from the observation room. The fee per child is $10 for pre-school open gym and $15 for school-age open gym. Preregister online at under the calendar section or by phone at 435-615-1800.
