Hole-in-One

Karrie Jarratt recorded a hole-in-one at Jeremy Ranch Country Club. Playing Hole No. 4, Jarratt’s ace came from 120 yards out. The shot was witnessed by Cheryl Benson, Jaime Breza and Rachel Massey.

PCHS Girls’ Soccer Tryouts

The Park City High School girls’ soccer team will hold tryouts for the upcoming season Aug. 3-5 at Quinn’s Junction. Tryouts will run from 8-11 a.m. each day. Athletes should bring water, sunscreen, shin guards, cleats and running shoes. All participants must sign up via http://www.registermyathlete.com prior to the first tryout day. Park City Golf Clinics

Park City Golf Course will host a series of beginner and intermediate clinics this summer. The beginner clinics are on Aug. 3 and 5 from 5:30-7 p.m. Intermediate clinics will be held Aug. 10, 12, 17 and 19. The cost for each clinic is $125 and the classes will be limited to 15 students. Basin Recreation’s Youth Fall Soccer program will begin the week of Aug. 17. Registration is now open and the cost is $70 per participant. Newpark Miles

On Monday nights this summer, lace up your running shoes with your family, friends, kids and colleagues and meet at Newpark Amphitheatre for a 1-Mile…ish fun run before dinner. The start time is 6:30 p.m., so come walk, jog, run, waddle or race your way along the course and make your way back for some Park City community camaraderie. Park City Avalanche Tryouts

Park City Avalanche Baseball will be holding tryouts for its fall season on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Park City High School baseball complex. Fall ball is a shorter season and focuses on player development in preparation for the spring competition season. The Avalanche will be fielding teams 8U-14U, and the fall league uses spring 2016 age brackets. If your player will be 8 or under on April 30, 2016, he qualifies for the fall 8U team, and so on. 8U-10U tryouts will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. 11U-14U tryouts will be from 6-7 p.m. There is no charge for tryouts. Avalanche Tournament Tryout

Park City Avalanche Baseball will be holding tryouts for any player who would like to travel with its 12U team to a tournament camp in Cooperstown, New York in June 2016. This will also be the Spring 2016 12U league team. If your player will be 12 (or younger) on April 30, 2016, he qualifies for the team. Your player must attend this tryout even if he does not plan to play in the fall league. The tryout will be on Aug. 11 from 6-7 p.m. There is no charge for tryouts. Summer Swim Lessons

Stretch-n-Grow of Utah, in Partnership with Basin Recreation, offers a fabulously fun way to give preschoolers a head start in sports and fitness in a non-competitive environment. Park City Speed Skating Club

Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Park City M.O.B. (Moms on Bikes)

Homes for our Troops Golf Tournament

On Friday, Aug. 28, Crater Springs Golf Course will host a tournament to benefit Homes for our Troops. Homes for our Troops’ mission is to build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. All proceeds of the tournament will go directly to Homes for our Troops to support their outstanding efforts. Homes for our Troops has been recognized by The American Institute of Philanthropy as one of the "Top Rated Veterans and Military Charities." Help is needed with sponsors, donations and teams. Rail Trail Closure

The Rail Trail is now closed under the bridge around mile post 153 between Promontory and Wanship. Due to construction in the Silver Creek area, it will remain closed throughout the summer and into the fall. Recreational users can still use most of the trail from Promontory or Wanship toward the bridge, but won’t be able to cross all the way through. The Utah Department of Transportation anticipates completing construction by mid-October, but that depends on weather conditions.

Adventure Camp

PC Recreation’s Adventure Camp allows kids ages 9 to 14 to take full advantage of our area’s outdoor recreation offerings, including rock climbing, sailing, river rafting, mountain biking and more. Pre-Comp Swim Team

Swimmers ages 6 to 14 wishing to compete at a recreational level will benefit from coaching on stroke technique, speed and endurance by taking part in this summer’s Pre-Comp Swim Team at the PC MARC lap pool. The Hiking Club

Learn new trails and meet like-minded enthusiasts with Basin Recreation’s "The Hiking Club," a Fun Over Fifty affiliate. With three tiers, The Hiking Club is sure to offer something for everyone. The free "Level 1: Walk n’ Roll Hikes" begin at The Fieldhouse and conclude at the Newpark Free Concert Series every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. These hikes are great for the new hiker or anyone simply looking for fun social exercise. If you get bored, try "Movin’ On Up: Level 2" ($5 every other Friday). These hikes are varied difficulties and range from 3-7 miles in distance. Still bored? Check out "Level 3: Up, Up and Away Hikes" ($10 every other Friday). These are the biggest and boldest peaks in the Wasatch, which means there is some travel time and great photo ops. This gradual approach to hiking and exercise allows you to decide when to take the next step.
