Bill Rickel recorded a hole-in-one at Park City Golf Course. Playing Hole No. 13, Rickel used an 8-iron for the 147-yard shot. The ace was witnessed by John Fitzgerald, Donna Fitzgerald and Jim Cisarik.
Dan Fuller recorded a hole-in-one at Park City Golf Course. Playing Hole No. 2, Fuller used a 4-iron for the 168-yard shot. The ace was witnessed by Craig Matthew, Jeff Fischer and Harry Bolger.
PCHS Boys’ Golf Tryouts
It’s that time of year again! Tryouts for the Park City High School boys’ golf team will begin Monday, July 27, at Park City Golf Course. Park City Golf Clinics
Park City Golf Course will host a series of beginner and intermediate clinics this summer. The beginner clinics are on July 27 and 29 and Aug. 3 and 5 from 5:30-7 p.m. Intermediate clinics will be held Aug. 10, 12, 17 and 19. The cost for each clinic is $125 and the classes will be limited to 15 students. All clinics will be taught by instructors Ken Stenmark and Nate Roberts. PC Recreation, Ramp and Zeal Optics present the 2015 Skateboard Series on July 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park City Skate Park. Arts Festival Doubles Volleyball Tournament
The 31st Annual Arts Festival Volleyball Tournament will be held on Aug. 1. Adult divisions are offered from Novice to Open, and the Juniors division is for ages 14 to 17. Basin Recreation’s Youth Fall Soccer program will begin the week of Aug. 17. Registration is now open and the cost is $70 per participant. Homes for our Troops Golf Tournament
On Friday, Aug. 28, Crater Springs Golf Course will host a tournament to benefit Homes for our Troops. Homes for our Troops’ mission is to build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. All proceeds of the tournament will go directly to Homes for our Troops to support their outstanding efforts. Homes for our Troops has been recognized by The American Institute of Philanthropy as one of the "Top Rated Veterans and Military Charities." Help is needed with sponsors, donations and teams. Rail Trail Closure
The Rail Trail is now closed under the bridge around mile post 153 between Promontory and Wanship. Due to construction in the Silver Creek area, it will remain closed throughout the summer and into the fall. Recreational users can still use most of the trail from Promontory or Wanship toward the bridge, but won’t be able to cross all the way through. The Utah Department of Transportation anticipates completing construction by mid-October, but that depends on weather conditions.
PC Recreation’s Adventure Camp allows kids ages 9 to 14 to take full advantage of our area’s outdoor recreation offerings, including rock climbing, sailing, river rafting, mountain biking and more. Pre-Comp Swim Team
Swimmers ages 6 to 14 wishing to compete at a recreational level will benefit from coaching on stroke technique, speed and endurance by taking part in this summer’s Pre-Comp Swim Team at the PC MARC lap pool. The Hiking Club
Learn new trails and meet like-minded enthusiasts with Basin Recreation’s "The Hiking Club," a Fun Over Fifty affiliate. With three tiers, The Hiking Club is sure to offer something for everyone. The free "Level 1: Walk n’ Roll Hikes" begin at The Fieldhouse and conclude at the Newpark Free Concert Series every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. These hikes are great for the new hiker or anyone simply looking for fun social exercise. If you get bored, try "Movin’ On Up: Level 2" ($5 every other Friday). These hikes are varied difficulties and range from 3-7 miles in distance. Still bored? Check out "Level 3: Up, Up and Away Hikes" ($10 every other Friday). These are the biggest and boldest peaks in the Wasatch, which means there is some travel time and great photo ops. This gradual approach to hiking and exercise allows you to decide when to take the next step.
