On July 26, at Soldier Hollow Golf Course, Lee Place recorded a hole-in-one. Playing the Gold Course, Place aced Hole #7, using a 7 iron from 178 yards out. Harvey Kobrin, Pablo Salas and Scott Kobrin witnessed the shot.

PCHS Girls’ Soccer Tryouts

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 4-6, the Park City High School girls’ soccer team will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season. Running from 8-11 each day, the tryouts will be held at the Quinn’s Junction Sports Complex. Athletes should bring cleats, shin guards, running shoes and plenty of water to the fields. Park City Avalanche Baseball Tryouts

The Park City Avalanche travel baseball program will be holding tryouts for the fall season Aug. 7-8 at PCHS baseball field from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for players from grades 2-8. Players are asked to attend both days. For those who can’t make that date, make-ups will be on Aug. 13 at the same time and place. Park City Soccer Club Academy Camp

Does your son or daughter want a few extra touches on the soccer ball before the fall recreation season starts? The Park City Soccer Club’s Youth Summer camp is open for registration for youngsters 6-9 years old that will be playing recreation soccer this fall. The goal of camp is to expose youngsters to the game of soccer in a fun and challenging environment. The camp dates are Aug. 11-14, and will take place at Trailside Elementary School from 9-11 a.m. daily. Cost is $100. Youth Soccer Clinic

Want to practice some essential soccer skills before the start of the fall soccer season? Join Basin Recreation’s Youth Soccer Clinic from Aug. 11 through 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Fieldhouse. Will Cummins, Black Diamond Soccer Club Coaching Director, will teach the basics to any player (ages 6 to 12) who wants to learn the game. Cost is $25 per day or $80 for all four days. ArtsFest Doubles Volleyball

The 2014 Park City ArtsFest Doubles Volleyball Tournament will take place at City Park on Aug. 2 at 9 a.m. The tournament features all levels, Juniors to Open. The fee is $15 for UOVA members and $25 for nonmembers. Registration is open through Aug. 1 at noon at

Youth Football Registration

Are you ready for some football? Park City Miners Youth Football Registration is now open. Athletes must be 8 years old as of Sept. 1, 2014, to enroll. All players ages 8-14 years are welcome. Practices start July 28. The $275 cost includes all equipment rentals (helmet, shoulder pads, padded game pants and padded practice pants). Players will also receive a mouthpiece, socks and two game jerseys with their names on them to keep. There is also a $100 volunteer fee that is refundable at the end of the year, provided the parents volunteer the required hours. Scholarships are available. Sign up at: .

Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Certified local dog trainer Heather Hampsten will teach Puppy, Basic and Intermediate classes on Tuesdays, July 29 to Sept. 2, at the PC MARC. Classes are for adults over 16 and their dogs. Puppy class is at 6 p.m., Basic is at 7 p.m. and Intermediate is at 8 p.m. The fee is $75. For info and registration visit or call 435-615-5400.

Girls Water Ramp Camp

Calling all girls! Come to Axis Freeskiing’s All Girls Water Ramp Camp! Spend two fun-filled days with women coaches from Axis Freeskiing at the Utah Olympic Park. Jump on the trampolines and ski into the pool learning new tricks and perfecting old ones. There will be additional fun girl activities and a video of your camp experience. The camp is for ages 7 and up, beginner to advanced skiing levels. The camp date is Aug. 2-3. The cost is $95 or you can sign up for one day only for $50. Yoga in the Park

Intro to Lacrosse Clinics

Do your kids want to learn how to play lacrosse this summer? Basin Recreation is hosting an Introduction to Lacrosse clinic Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Trailside Park lower field. PC SUP Fitness and Yoga Classes

Park City Standup Paddleboarding hosts SUP yoga classes six times a week, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. SUP Fit classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. The classes are held at the Deer Valley ponds, located at 1375 Deer Valley Drive South. The cost for all classes is $20, which includes a board and paddle rental. Groups of three or more can set up private classes. Fall Soccer

Fall is fast approaching, so it’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation Fall Soccer. Boys and girls teams, kindergarten through ninth grade, will practice and play games twice a week from Aug. 18 to Oct. 11. Preschoolers will practice and play games once a week. Youth Flag Football

Ready, set, hike! It’s time to sign up for Basin Recreation Youth Flag Football. Games and practices will be held at The Fieldhouse from Aug. 25 through Oct. 17 starting with player evaluations. Park City M.O.B. (Moms on Bikes)

PC Recreation offers free weekly, drop-in mountain bike rides led by moms for moms. These rides improve ability and confidence, while making new friends. Rides are for adult women 18 and older, from June 25 to Sept. 10 on Wednesdays 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Ride locations change weekly. Email for weekly updates.

Park City SUP Kids Camp

Park City Standup Paddleboarding is hosting two kids’ camps this summer. The next session will be Aug. 18-22. The camp will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The cost is $150, which includes board, paddle and personal flotation device rentals. Visit for more information or to sign up.

Summer Tennis Training

Continue your hard work and progress you made during the school year with the PC Tennis new summer tennis training program. Two hours of game-based drills and match play takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 15, 4 to 6 p.m. for ages 9 to 18. Fee is $22 per day at the PC MARC tennis courts. Register for all three days of STT and join our match play on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. for free; otherwise drop-in to match play is $5.

Basin Rec Summer Sports Camp

Get the kids (ages 5-9) involved with a few sports this summer during Basin Recreation’s Summer Sports Camp. The second session is Aug. 11-14. Free Pickleball Clinics The PC MARC has new pickleball courts. Drop in play will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. Saturday mixers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Call 615-5400 to register for the Learn to Play clinics. Courts can be reserved online at

Girls Basketball Skill Sessions

Girls in grades 6-9 interested in playing basketball at the high school in the future should have their parents contact Park City High School coach Sam White at . White is currently setting up group skill sessions for the summer. Sessions will be free, and the focus will be improving individual skill sets as well as building a foundation for playing together as a team.

Outlaw Golf Club Open

The Outlaw Golf Club in Hideout Canyon is open for the season. The scenic nine-hole course is open daily from 8 a.m. until dusk. Located off of S.R. 248, the course offers nine holes for $35 (including a cart rental). Call 435-901-4227 for more information or to book a tee time.

Summer Tennis Camps

PC Tennis offers two and a half hours of drills, games and competition for children ages 7 to 13 on Mondays through Fridays from June 9 to Aug. 15. Each session will include stroke production, footwork and match play. The fee is $45 per day. For info, visit or call 435-615-5400.

PC Recreation Dirt Jump Clinics

Summer Swim Lessons

Barre Classes at the PC MARC

Strengthen your core and increase flexibility with a unique workout using the ballet barre along with other fitness equipment.
