Pioneers Home Opener Friday

The Park City Pioneers kick off their hockey season on Friday night at the Park City Ice Arena. The Pioneers will face one of their biggest rivals, the Jackson Hole Moose, at 8:15 p.m. The two-game series concludes on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children and students, $3 for youth hockey players and $3 for resort employees. Basin Recreation Ski Conditioning Class

Want to get in shape for the ski season? Check out Basin Recreation’s Ski Conditioning fitness class at The Fieldhouse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. from Nov. 4 through Dec. 4. Connecting Your Gluteus, Hamstrings and Core

This workshop, scheduled for Nov. 8 from 2:30-5 p.m. at the Silver Mountain Sports Club & Spa/Kimball Junction Yoga Room, focuses on deepening your current "CORE" strength while developing the connection between your core, glutes and hamstrings. You will walk away with knowledge of how to implement these muscles together to provide you with a strong ski/winter season. You will learn tools that are fresh, new and powerful to get the job done. This workshop is not strenuous; it is designed for all ages and levels of activity. The fee is $25. 212 Lacrosse Indoor Series

The 212 Lacrosse Indoor Series at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse is in session from Oct. 19 to Dec. 19. The program is available for boys in fourth grade through high school. Hockey Academy

Come to the Park City Ice Arena on Thursdays, Nov. 6-Dec. 18, from 4:30 p.m. until 5:15 p.m., for introductory classes to those aspiring to learn to play hockey or simply learn how to skate in hockey skates. Learn to Play Hockey is for skaters 5-12 years old and Basic Hockey Skating is for new hockey skaters four years and older. Equipment is required for Learn to Play Hockey and highly recommended for Basic Hockey Skating. Equipment may be available to rent for a $15 fee. Please rent equipment at the time of registration and schedule an equipment fitting at least one week prior to the start of class. Indoor Paddleboard Yoga

Though the weather is getting colder, the paddleboard yoga scene is still hot. Join Park City Standup Paddleboarding for indoor paddleboard yoga sessions at the Park City Aquatic Center. Classes will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The cost is $20, which includes all necessary equipment. Small & Tall with Story Time

This class at the Park City Ice Arena is for preschool-aged children, accompanied by an adult, to gain confidence on the ice and focus on the fundamentals of balancing and having fun on the ice. Basic Skating Camp

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 12:30-3:30 p.m., join the Park City Ice Arena for a Basic Skating Camp. This class is for beginner and recreational skaters ages four and up who want to improve their skating skills while having fun on the ice with their friends. Mommy & Me Tennis

PC Tennis offers Mommy & Me clinics, inviting parents to come out with their children to learn the basics of hand-eye coordination, motor skills and other basics of tennis. The clinics are for kids ages 3 to 5 and are offered Tuesdays from 1:15 to 2 p.m. and Thursdays from 11:15 a.m. to noon from Oct. 14 to Dec. 18. The fee is $11 per day. PC Rec Basketball League

Get ready to shoot some hoops and have some fun on the court with PC Recreation’s Basketball League. The league starts on Nov. 6 with games played on Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. in the PC MARC gymnasium. The fee per team is $660. Youth Karate

PC Recreation’s Youth karate teaches children life lessons that build self-esteem, confidence, respect and fitness. Big Foot Soccer

Winter is quickly approaching, so let’s take soccer indoors! Basin Recreation’s Big Foot Soccer will run from Oct. 27 through Dec. 13 at The Fieldhouse. Third and fourth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays, fifth and sixth graders will practice on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and seventh and eighth graders will practice on Mondays and Saturdays. Upcoming PC Sport & Wellness Coalition Presentations

On Nov. 13, Alexander Cohen, the senior sports psychologist for the USOC, will talk about the fundamentals of sport psychology. On Nov. 20, Finn Gundersen will give a talk on coach education. Also, on Dec. 3, the PC Sport & Wellness Coalition will sponsor a Harvard Speaker Series event featuring Cornelia Holden of Mindful Warrior, a team-based leadership training program for competitive athletes.

Fall Junior Tennis

PC Tennis offers Fall Junior Tennis through Dec. 20. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions are available after school for ages 10-13 and grades 8-12 of all levels. Skills & Drills Basketball Clinics

Does your third through eighth grader want to learn the fundamentals of basketball? Join Basin Recreation for a series of Skills and Drills Basketball Clinics on Fridays from Oct. 3 through Dec. 12 (excluding Oct. 17, Oct. 31 and Nov. 28) at the Ecker Hill Middle School gym. Third through fifth grade will meet from 5-6 p.m. and sixth through eighth grade will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Cost is $50 for the first four sessions, $50 for the last four sessions or $80 for all eight sessions. Soldier Hollow Trail Running Series

Soldier Hollow has a new trail-running series that started on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The series will run every Tuesday from Sept. 9 until Oct. 28. Starting at 5 p.m., there will be a free one- or two-kilometer kids’ race for runners under the age of 14. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a 5K and a 10K race for adults. New Evening Classes at the PC MARC
