Nothing Free About Freestyle Fundraiser

Bobby Carroll is gearing up for the second annual Nothing Free About Freestyle Ski Fundraiser to be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wasatch Brew Pub. It will be another evening of mingling, appetizers and live music, with a silent auction, door prizes and live raffles. Admission is $10 per person at the door. All proceeds will benefit Bobby’s quest to represent Park City on the 2016 U.S. Ski Team and achieve World Cup starts. PC Miners Youth Competitive Basketball

Does your son love to play basketball? Is he ready to dedicate himself to a competitive team? If so, he should consider trying out for the Miners. Open tryouts for the upcoming season will be held at Park City High School on Oct. 12, 13 and 14. Third and fourth graders will try out at 6 p.m., fifth and sixth graders at 7 p.m. and seventh and eighth graders at 8 p.m. Please plan on attending all three days of tryouts. Indoor Coed Volleyball

Get your teams ready for Park City Recreation’s 6v6 Coed Volleyball League. Competitive and recreational divisions are offered. The PC MARC makes working out convenient and affordable for parents. When thinking about that gym pass for the winter, consider the child care that is exclusively for patrons who are on site. Basin Rec Fall Volleyball

Basin Recreation Fall Volleyball will run Oct. 13 to Nov. 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ecker Hill gym. Work on skills for the upcoming volleyball season. Players will learn the basics and play matches and mini-tournaments for a bit of friendly competition. The cost is $60 for third through fifth graders and $100 for sixth through ninth graders. The community is invited to benefit in PC Recreation’s Wellness Fight Week Oct. 12-16. Basin Recreation UEA Camp

Need a place for your kids to play during UEA/Fall Break? Sign up for Basin Recreation’s UEA /Fall Break camp Oct. 15 and 16. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. Campers will enjoy games, arts and crafts and swimming, so be sure to pack a swimsuit, towel, lunch and snacks.

Picklefest 2015

Join Park City pickleball gurus Kathy Pederson and Kevin Preibe for a morning of fun. Come learn what pickleball is, how to play it, and get ready to fall in love with this low-impact, easy-to-learn sport. Wear some crazy shorts and tennis shoes and come play. You might even head home with some new pickleball equipment. The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Willow Creek Park pickleball courts.

Intro to Ballroom Dance Class

Basin Recreation has partnered with Ballroom Utah Dance Studio to offer a six-week Intro to Ballroom Dance Class. Ballroom Utah’s professional instructors will introduce a different style of dance each week while progressing through the steps. Styles include the waltz, tango, cha-cha, swing, fox trot and salsa. Instruction will run Fridays from Nov. 6 to Dec. 18 from 4-5 p.m. at The Fieldhouse and Basin Rec will allow an additional hour of play/practice time once the instructor is finished. You do not need a partner to participate. Mother/son and father/daughter couples are more than welcome. Costs are $75 for individuals or $120 per couple. Apex Volleyball Tryouts

Apex Volleyball tryouts will be in mid-November. Pre-club training will be in September and October. Both teams had great seasons in 2015 and enjoyment rating from everyone was very high. Apex is also looking to add a couple new coaches for this year. Volleyball is one of the fastest-growing sports, and it is also the third most popular high school sport for girls. There were more than 500 teams in Utah playing in the various age groups last year. Cardio Tennis at the PC MARC

Cardio Tennis combines the best features of tennis with cardiovascular exercise to deliver a full-body aerobic workout. Taught by a tennis professional, Cardio Tennis is held on Mondays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the PC MARC. Players of all levels are welcome to enjoy this dynamic workout that uses the agility ladder, cardio stations, cardio balls and music. The class fee is $26. AARP Smart Driver Course at Basin Recreation

Basin Recreation will be offering another AARP Smart Driver Course on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room at 5715 Trailside Drive. The course will be led by AARP Certified Instructor Eric Wollesen and will teach defensive driving techniques, safety strategies and new traffic laws. Each participant is eligible for a three-year discount on auto insurance upon completing the course. There are no tests to pass; simply show up and learn. Lunch will be provided by Basin Recreation. Costs are $15/AARP member and $20/nonmember, to be paid on the day of the course. PC Tennis invites those interested in racket sports to discover pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. Head to the PC MARC for a variety of pickleball programming, including drop-in/social play, tournaments, clinics and drills. Little Dribblers Basketball

Park City Soccer Club 2015 Fall Academy

The Park City Soccer Club Session One fall academy registration is open to players 7-10 years old. The academy is designed to complement the fall recreation soccer program, providing a curriculum that is based on fun, dynamic and age-appropriate training sessions to enhance players’ skills. Park City Speed Skating Club

Come join the Park City Speed Skating Club for the new season. PCSSC is a skill-building, fitness-oriented club with an emphasis on fun. Basic skating skills are necessary and all ages are welcome. Practices will take place on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8 p.m. and are coached by four-time Olympian Catherine Raney-Norman. The first time is free so come take a lap with PCSSC. Aquafit

Rail Trail Closure

The Rail Trail is closed under the bridge around mile post 153 between Promontory and Wanship. Due to construction in the Silver Creek area it has been closed this summer and will remain closed into the fall. Recreational users can still use most of the trail from Promontory or Wanship toward the bridge, but won’t be able to cross all the way through. The Utah Department of Transportation anticipates completing construction by mid-October, but that depends on weather conditions.

A Minor Spin Class

Whether you’re a youth or just young at heart, the PC MARC has a new spin class just for you. Join Brooke on Sundays from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. for a great workout and music at a decibel young people can appreciate. Ages 13 and over are welcome. Thriller Dance Workshop

If you love "Thriller" and love to dance, the PC MARC’s Thriller Dance Workshop is for you. Come exercise, laugh and learn the famous moves with your friends and family. Youth Karate
