Team Jupiter Bowl excels again
June 2, 2015
Team Jupiter Bowl, for the second year in a row, took home first-place honors in the highly competitive Ritz Classic in Salt Lake City.
This year was a bit more challenging, as the team, comprised of Chris ‘the General’ Patton, JC Kummer, Toni Kirkwood, Anthony Gallardo, Larry Grossaint and Pete Sosnowski, needed to win 24 of the total 30 points on the final night to pull out the victory. (Points are awarded for each individual match and team totals.). Not only did the team win 27 of the 30, they were led by Anthony Gallardo who bowled games of 299, 234 and 300, for a career-high 833 scratch series.
The team then went into tournament competition, with Chris Patton, Alison Patton, Toni Kirkwood, Maria Shiver and Tony Gallardo finishing fifth (out of 330 teams) in the Greater Salt Lake Open Team Championships.
In the same tournament, Peter Sosnowski took home first-place honors in men’s open singles with a 717 scratch, (827 with handicap), while Alison Patton took home first-place honors in women’s seniors championships with a 778 handicap total. While competing in the doubles portion of the tournament, Chris Patton finished off the season with a 740 scratch series.
Team Captain Chris Patton stated that they are always looking for additional bowlers to fill spots, as the team will be moving to Olympic Lanes in the fall.
Special thanks to all the staff at Jupiter Bowl, and especially Amy Baker, for all her help and support.
