PCHS boys’ golf tryouts

Golf tryouts for the Park City High School boys’ golf team grades 9 through 12 will be held at Park City Golf Club on Monday, Aug. 8, at 6:45 a.m. For any questions please contact head coach George Murphy at: gmurphy@pcschools.us.

PCHS girls’ soccer tryouts

The Park City High School girls’ soccer team will be holding tryouts Aug. 1-3. The tryouts will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at Quinn’s Junction. Grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend. Players must bring cleats, shin guards and other necessary soccer equipment. Each player needs to pass a sports physical. The tryouts will be for three teams: freshman, junior varsity and varsity. Park City Golf Club Club Championship

The Park City Golf Club Club Championship event will be held for all members; women’s 9 and 18 hole associations and men regular and senior. Women will start with tee times at 7:30 a.m., men will start at about 9 a.m. The dates for the event are Aug. 13 and 14. Entry fee is $25 for women, $45 for men, plus green fees. This will be a flighted event. Sign up sheets are in the golf shop.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS LACROSSE MEETING

Any boys entering grades 9 through 12 planning on playing Park City fall or spring lacrosse, JV or varsity, are expected to attend a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m., at the Basin Recreation Offices located at Trailside Park. Players only, please. PCLO president Andrew Gutman will be available to answer any parent questions. Coaches Langendorf and Walsh will outline the upcoming season plans and programs for players. F.I.T.T. Tennis Workshop

Park City Recreation is offering a two session workshop on tennis specific injuries (Fitness, Injury Prevention, Technology, Tennis Technique), prevention, and conditioning. Joanna Kahn, certified Physical Therapist, owner of Personal PT, and former Division 1 collegiate tennis player will host the event. This movement clinic will teach participants the relationship between anatomy and injury, along with potential factors contributing to tennis injuries and game performance. Workshop will be held at the Park City Racquet Club, 1200 Little Kate Road. Monday, Aug. 15 and 22, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost $35. PC SOCCER CLUB AUGUST CAMP

The Park City Soccer Club is holding a summer camp beginning Aug. 15 through Aug. 18. The camp is open to boys and girls age 7 to 17, and will be held at Willow Creek Park. Youth Contact Football

Start Smart Soccer

Start smart soccer is starting again. This one-on-one parent child program creates an environment that any child can learn from and have fun. Start smart soccer is for kids 3 5 years, program runs at Willow Creek Park on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Registration deadline is August 31. Silver Mountain Swim Program

A fifth session has been added to Silver Mountain Sports Club’s Summer Swim Program. Session 5 lessons will be from Aug. 8-18, Monday thru Thursday at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The session provides eight half-hour lessons which are $65 for members and $95 for non-members. Session 5 Pre-Comp Swim Team practice will be held from 9-10 a.m. Monday through Wednesday with an away Swim Meet each Friday evening. Kickboxing lessons

IFK Light-Heavy Weight World Champion Kickboxer and Certified Personal Trainer, Travis Mason, has joined Silver Mountain Sports Club & Spa. Mason has been training people of all ages for more than 15 years in fitness and martial arts. Mason will be providing general fitness, high intensity training and competitive martial arts instruction as a Personal Trainer at SMSC. He is offering a free half-hour kickboxing lesson, self-defense instruction or personal training session to members and guests of Silver Mountain Sports Club & Spa. Play Dirty at Mud Run MS

Mud Run MS is the fastest growing adventure race in America. Get dirty with the best of them at Mud Run MS on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Miller Motorsports Park. It is a 10K boot-camp-style obstacle course through, in and around the mud benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Participants can compete as individuals or form a team. The day includes lunch, free beer (for those of age) and the exhilaration of playing in the cool mud to help a great cause finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and supporting local programs and services for those impacted by the disease. Park City Recreation Coed Flag Football

Park City Recreation wants folks to get their game on in a 7-v-7 adult coed flag football league. Games will be played at the City Park Thursday nights beginning Sept. 1 through Oct. 27. Dryland Training at PC Racquet Club

Looking for a personal strength training program that is tailored, but in a group setting? Join Park City Recreation for a six-week program that will increase muscular endurance, balance and body awareness. Don’t miss out on the action in Utah’s premier skate competition series. Park City Recreation will be hosting competitions on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Park City Skate Park. Summer Learn to Skate, Play Hockey classes

Beat the heat and hit the ice at Park City Ice Arena. Get a jump start on skating and hockey skills. Classes meet twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, for three weeks on August 4, 9, 11, 16, 18. Learn to Skate Classes are 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Learn to Play Hockey classes are 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. They offer skating classes for all levels, ages 3-adult. Hockey is available to those future players, ages 5-14 that have passed the Snowflurries Learn to Skate class in hockey skates. Dog Obedience class

Have a new puppy or a dog that would love to learn a few new tricks? Park City Recreation began another session of Dog Obedience classes Tuesday, July 26. Three levels of training are offered to fit the need of dogs with puppy, basic, and intermediate classes. Classes are taught by local certified dog trainer, Heather Hampsten and will be held at the Park City Ice Arena. Registration is open now until classes are filled. Coed 7v7 Soccer League

Don’t miss out on the action as the Park City Recreation is gearing up to start this summer’s coed 7-v-7 soccer league. Games will be played at the Park City Sports Complex on Thursday nights August 18 through October 13. This popular league fills fast. Registration ends August 11 and cost per team is $275. Coed Kickball League

Remember those days on the playground? Well, Park City Recreation is bringing them back with the Coed Kickball League, and the game is much more competitive and fun than most remember. Coed teams will play at the Park City Sports Complex Wednesday nights beginning August 3 through October 5. Cost per team is $275 and the registration deadline is July 27. Space is limited. Park City Karate

Park City Karate will be hosting summer karate camps this summer. The four-day camps will be held August 8-11. These camps will feature four days of karate, fitness, outdoor activities and even an afternoon of bowling. Campers do not have to have any karate experience to join in the fun.
