City council to address Main Street water line replacement and more at Thursday meeting

Park Record Staff

Park City’s City Council will meet Thursday, March 7 at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, the city announced in a press release.

The public agenda details several items, leading with an expected update on “Gordo” — a 22-acre, city-owned property — detailing soil info and possible future uses for the land.

Officials from Utah Department of Transportation will present findings from their Environmental Impact Statement regarding Kimball Junction. The report will impact planning for the intersection’s future reconfiguration.

The council is scheduled to address the Main Street water line replacement project. According to a city press release, the council is expected to enter into a construction contract with Herriman-based Silver Spur Construction to reconstruct Main Street’s underground water infrastructure. This would be the first system-wide upgrade since 1984, according to the press release, and would address potential wear-and-tear failures expected of aging infrastructure.

A group from Rocky Mountain Power will present their findings on the scope and cost of moving and burying an existing transmission line from Boot Hill to the Park City, the release said. City council commissioned this report last year.
