Caroline Gleich campaign reports highest single-quarter fundraising total for U.S. Democratic Senate candidacy

Park Record Staff

On April 16, Park City-based Caroline Gleich, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Utah, reported a strong quarter one fundraising report, with nearly $400,000 raised from nearly 8,000 individual donors.

Gleich’s campaign claims this is significant because it marks the highest single-quarter fundraising total for a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Utah in over 40 years and the second-highest ever, according to the campaign.

“It reflects a historically strong campaign heading into the state Democratic convention later this month and preparing to face off with the eventual Republican nominee in the November general election,” said her campaign in a press release. “Gleich’s numbers place her as the second-highest-raising candidate in the first quarter, outpacing nearly every Republican running.”

“I’m extremely excited and humbled by the groundswell of support we’ve seen since launching our campaign in January,” Gleich said in the email. “As a ski mountaineer, I’ve learned that we never climb a mountain alone, which is why I’m proud to have a strong grassroots team supporting our climb to the US Senate. I don’t look like a typical Senator. I’m not an entrenched politician, I don’t come from a political dynasty and I don’t have millions of dollars to loan my campaign. However, I’m thrilled to have the support of thousands of Utahns who are ready for a different kind of leadership in Washington, and I’m ready to advocate for our families, our freedom, and our future.”

The New York Times named Gleich’s campagin as one of the top ten races to watch this year.

Gleich’s press release noted some key takeaways:

  • $389,534.76 raised
  • 7,788 contributors
  • 99% raised from individual donors
  • $42.66 average contribution
  • Highest single-quarter total for a Democratic US Senate candidate in Utah since 1982, second-highest on record
